Domestic Disturbance.....

I don't need a life. I can live through other people's lives.........

Just as I was getting into bed last night I heard some yelling on the street. So I look out the window and there's a car blocking a van across the street and some people yelling at each other. This went on for a few minutes with the van trying to get around the car but the car kept moving and blocking the van. Lots of f--- you was being yelled by the female in the car to the male in the van. Finally the van got away. I was thinking if I called the police that by the time they got here everyone would be gone. Then another car shows up and the female in the first car approaches that car which had another female in it. They yell at each other for some time. Something about he has a family and drugs and on and on...........finally everyone leaves. Then the first car reappears and is talking to a cop in a police car, giving him the license plate number and that "they're all on drugs".

And then another time I was awakend in the wee hours of the morn with a guy yelling "Roxanne get in the car" as he drove alongside a woman walking on the street. She kept blowing him off and he kept yelling at her to get in the car. Then a guy in a truck shows up (he seemed to be the father of the woman walking) and then both men were yelling at each other. I was ready to yell out the window "Roxanne - get in the f------ car so we can get some sleep". Geez, don't these people have jobs they have to be at in the morning? Shouldn't they be home in bed sleeping?

I could give you more examples but I don't want to bore you....

Remember the favorite job I was talking about and how maybe it wasn't my favorite job anymore cuz of the new computer challenges? Well, I think it's my favorite job again. They just gave me a $1.00 per hour raise. Yup, I love that job.

The dream........

Ok, the ABS light in my car came on and stayed on. This has happened several times recently and I just turn the car off and start it again and it goes away. I cannot afford another problem with this car. I just spent gobs of money on new tires and new shocks/suspension a couple months ago and I cannot afford anything to go wrong ever again. The brakes better be okay. I love this car and don't think I'll ever be able to drive anything but another SUV or a truck so it better not have anything wrong with it. I never wanted a truck before moving here but now I do. I want a 4x4 I can take off road with the body jacked up. They are so cool and you get so much use from them here. I want to be able to drive on the soft sand (not just the hard sand) so I can pull right up at the beach, hop out and jump in the water. Lots of guys here have em and I want me one..........

We had a storm here Friday night, actually Saturday morning. It was so cool - the thunder woke me up about 1:30 am and there was lightning so I peeked out the window and it looked like it was over Hanalei side. It lasted most of the morning and when I got up Sat morning it had moved over to Lihue. There was still thunder and we saw some lightning out over the ocean as we drove to Koloa for the Plantation Days Parade. The weather was great for the parade, it was sunny so afterwards we came home, got our beach stuff and went to the beach at Salt Pond. It was high tide while we were there and not as calm as it usually is. Big waves were breaking on the outer reef and rolling onto the beach. It was pretty deserted until about 2 pm when more beachgoers arrived.

I don't know if we'll get to the beach today. I'd like to go for a dip and cool off but I may end up parking my lazy butt in front of the computer all afternoon or be a couch potato and fall asleep in front of the tv. We went to the beach both Friday and yesterday so I think I might relax today.

School starts tomorrow for my son and he's not looking forward to it. It'll be his last year and I'm not sure what he'll be doing after that. Gotta start planning something.

Analyze This.....

I had a really weird dream the other night. I dreamt I was driving and everywhere the roads were either under construction or muddy. As I was going downhill I couldn't come to a complete stop anywhere - at a stop sign or a red light. Fortunately, each time I approached a stop sign or red light there were no cars coming in either direction that had the green light and I was able to get through without an accident. But I remember being at a one room building and going in but not finding anything or not knowing why I was there. It was kinda scary. I woke up and wondered what the heck the dream meant........

After work today I was on my way to pick up my son and wasn't paying attention to oncoming traffic when I suddenly looked at a truck going by and the guy was checking me out. His truck was almost exactly like the "heartbreaker's" truck but I realized too late that it might have been him and couldn't get a good look at it. It sounded just like his truck, diesel, but looked a little bit newer. Then when I turned off to get my son either the same truck passed me going the same way or it was another truck just like it. But I was turning and couldn't look. It could have been him cuz he was working nights this week, but...........

I need to just forget about him. Move on girl......

Okay - all together now...

I HATE MAC COMPUTERS. I HATE MAC COMPUTERS. I HATE MAC COMPUTERS. I HATE MAC COMPUTERS. I HATE MAC COMPUTERS.

I wanted to like it but it won't let me.

Number of times I dragged the spelling & grammer check icon and the envelopes icon to the toolbar: 5.

Number of times the icons were there next time I went into Word: 0

One more time...

I HATE MAC COMPUTERS. MAC COMPUTERS HATE ME. I HATE MAC COMPUTERS. MAC COMPUTERS HATE ME.

I know Windows. I like Windows. Ok, so you get those stupid general protection faults and invalid page faults. But, so what? I can live with that. I know Windows terminology. A shortcut is a shortcut. WTF is an alias? Why can't they standardize terminology across platforms? It sucks. It sucks big time.

Maybe my favorite job isn't my favorite job anymore.

Wow - I went to pick-up my son after work and they were watching the news. A helicopter crashed on Mt. Waialeale this morning and the pilot and 4 passengers were killed. One couple was celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary and the other couple was younger. Apparently the pilot had years and years of experience. I've always wanted to take a helicopter tour of Kauai but I'm kinda afraid of helicopters. My son's father is a pilot and when we were together we would fly from Oahu to the other islands. We flew to Maui once and picked up my sister and brother-in-law and flew to the Big Island for one of our best friends from high school wedding reception. We used to fly here to Kauai, land at the airstrip adjacent to the beach we go to now, go to the beach and fly back to Oahu. We flew to the Big Island another time(after stopping on Maui and spending the night because the weather turned on us) and stayed at a state cabin for the night then flew back to Oahu. But this was all in fixed wing aircraft (single & twin engine). I've never been in a helicopter and I don't think I ever want to be in one.

And there was a freak accident on the freeway on Oahu where a big box fell off a vehicle and caused the car behind it to swerve to avoid it which caused the car behind the swerving car to hit the swerving car which propelled it across the median where 3 police officers on motorcycles hit it. One policeman was killed and a 12 year old girl in the car was killed. The police officers & their motorcycles ended up in the bushes on the side of the road where sparks and god knows what caused a brush fire...............

I think I'll just lock my doors and hunker down........

It's not safe out there...........

you gotta love the internet. you can find just about anything on it.

i was reading a blog and clicked on something that led me to something else that led me to a sex toy site. they even have videos you can watch on how to use the toys.

now ladies, listen up, they have a strap-on vibrator with a remote control. you can wear it and give the remote to your "significant other" who can activate it. Yee Haw! try wearing that to church.......or how bout dinner with your parents......

i'm gonna drink mai-tai's tonight. my friend is picking up some rum as I type this....

i am so psychic.....

just as i was about to step into the shower monday morning i had a thought - there's a centipede in the shower. and i said to myself, nah, don't be silly. so in i got and when i turned around and looked down there was a centipede in the shower. about 5 inches long and trying to crawl up the side of the tub.

this is not an unusual occurance in this house.

about a month ago i awoke to a burning sensation on the inside back of my right leg just above the knee. not quite fully awake i rubbed it several times and finally awoke enough to realize that it was still burning and i was still rubbing it and i better find out what the heck was going on.

so i turned the light on and looked at my leg and something had bitten me!

i thought maybe a spider so i pulled the covers off the bed and kind of shook them and didn't see anything. then out of the corner of my left eye i saw something crawling on the carpet - a centipede. the bugger who bit me no doubt. i have never, ever, in my whole life been bitten by a centipede before and i hope the heck to never get bitten again. my leg stung like i've never felt before. ok, so childbirth was definitely more painful but this was a different kind of pain.

so i grabbed one of my hiking boots and pounded that bugger to death. then i got some ice and wrapped it in a washcloth and held it on my leg for about two hours while i tried to sleep.

about two weeks later i opened the cabinet under the bathroom sink and there was a centipede crawling around in there. i emptied out the entire contents of the cabinet and smashed that sucker to death also.

but, back to the centipede in the shower. he got pounded to death also.

this is happening way too often. i must call the realty company and see if they can get the owner to spring for pest control to come out and spray.

in other news, challenges with the new mac at work continue. don't even ask me what i did but i know i'm responsible. the printer status is "stopped" and we can't figure out how to restart it. help is of no help. and system preferences doesn't even display a printer icon. wtf? rebooting didn't solve the problem. i want the pc back. at least i know windows....

i want to add comments to this blog so all 2-4 of you who read this can communicate with me.......problem is i have no clue how to do it. i tried a few days ago and only succeded in screwing it up so i took it out. i'll try again before my pride bites the dust and i ask for help.........

so many blogs.....so little time........

here's me being a ditz.......open the mail at work, out comes an invoice with some little baggies attached to it. thought it was just a bill so put it in my tray for posting on wednesday. later we're looking for something and my boss pulls out the invoice, sees the baggies and says - "who put this invoice with the stones i ordered in this tray"? Oops - see I work in a jewelry store 2.5 days a week and we order loose stones (diamonds, tanzanite, sapphire, tourmaline, etc) cuz they make their own jewelry. fortunately these weren't very expensive stones but she was cool. when i looked at the baggies i didn't see the stones, only that there was some writing on the baggies. i did think it was weird because usually the memo bill comes with the stones, not the invoice, but i was busy and wasn't paying attention. and, here's the best excuse of all, we now have 2 computers to work on, one mac and one pc. not all the software & files have moved from the pc to the mac so i'll be moving the mac mouse and looking at the pc screen and wondering why the arrow isn't moving on the screen. it's very confusing. what can i say, it's monday.............

There was a teensy bit of excitement this weekend....

I looked out my kitchen window Saturday morning as I was preparing to head for the beach and there were four police cars at the house on the corner across the street. Three cops were standing around talking in the driveway. The neighbor on the other corner across the street started up his mower and proceeded to mow his lawn so I couldn't even hear what was being said. Bummer! A couple weeks ago, only at night, the cops were at this very same house. Lately this has been a common occurance at this particular house. Ever since I moved here four years ago I have heard the woman in that house screaming at her kids. At first I thought she had small kids. Then I saw them and they were middle school & high school age. She usually is yelling at her son - and she's not shy about using the F word. Anyway, the son has not been around very much lately so I don't know what is going on. The next time I looked out my kitchen window all the cops were gone. So anyway, we went to the beach. Even tho I'm not much of a swimmer I love the ocean. Just being in the water is so relaxing. My son and I usually play ball in the water. As I was retreiving the ball I saw two fish swim by. It was really cool -they were about 15" long and pale yellow with black markings. I need to get a fish book so I can look them up. Lots of people snorkel at this beach but you don't usually see anything unless you are out by the rocks. Sometimes there are Hawaiian Monk Seals at the beach. Usually sleeping. The lifeguards usually rope them off as they are an endangered species and you have to stay 100' away from them. When they wake up and go back in the water everyone bails up onto the beach.

So today we decided to go to a beach that we haven't been to for awhile....Black Pot beach at the Hanalei Pier. It was really nice. I usually don't care for the north shore beaches but it was beautiful today. The water was beautiful and clear. I need to get a mask & snorkel so I can see what's underwater. Wish I could post a picture here so anyone reading this could see how beautiful Hanalei Bay is. There was some surf farther out with a few people catching waves but in the summer the bigger surf is on the south shore. I'm a chickenshit and have never tried surfing. You would think having lived in Hawaii my whole life that I would have at least tried it once, but no. I have done a little boogie boarding in smaller waves but I hate wiping out. Once at Kealia a rogue wave hit me and tumbled me underwater several times and when I came up for air another wave got me. It must have looked pretty funny from shore but wasn't funny when it was happening. So I mostly stick to shallow water.

I want to go camping this summer. The weather has been so nice lately. I wanna have a campfire and toast marshmallows and sleep under the stars. Anybody wanna go with me? I need at least one guy, preferably two to feel safe. I know just the place, it's near a beach park so there's a shower and bathrooms but far enough away to not be bothered. Anybody have a tent and a BBQ?

Okay, I just invented a job for myself.

Everytime I go grocery shopping I can't believe how lame the "courtesy clerks" are at packing the groceries. I mean, come on, why is the pizza sideways so that by the time I get home the frozen cheese has all slid to one side? Just put it in the bag horizontally - how hard is that? Huh? Seems like a no-brainer to me.

And don't put the peaches next to the juice in the big plastic bottle. Birdbrain!!! I didn't cherry pick my produce so you could not think with your non-existent brain that I would want them all bruised and smashed. I wasn't planning on making peach dacquiri's but come to think of it that doesn't sound bad.

Am I the only one with this pet peeve?

So - this job I just invented for myself is training "courtesy clerks" how to pack the groceries. I usually repack them anyway when I get to the car so why don't I just teach these people the proper way to pack em? And, with the turnover in "courtesy clerks" I would think this would be a full time job. Of course, I would do this as a "consultant" because I could charge the big buckeronies.

Anyway, now that I got that off my chest I can't believe tomorrow is Friday. It always seems that the week after a 3-day weekend just crawls along but this week has gone by very fast. I seem to have recovered from my muscle aching hike from last weekend and now there's talk of another hike. This time it's a short walk to a place called "Queen's Bath" once again on the north shore. As long as the surf isn't big.....people have been swept off the rocks there and drowned. We'll see how the weather is....

It was a fairly uneventful weekend. We went to the beach on both Friday and Saturday. As usual it was beautiful and the water was clear. My fireworks viewing consisted of listening to my neighbor set off stuff in the driveway. I barely even looked out the window. Sunday we drove all the way to the end of the road, Ke'e Beach, and hiked the Kalalau trail to Hanakapi'ai Beach. 2 miles in and 2 miles out. The trail was rocky, up and down, hot, windy and muddy. All at different times. The views of the Na Pali coast were not as impressive as I expected. I guess because I'm so used to seeing pictures of it. Once we got to the stream we climbed over the boulders to get to the beach. Swimming is very dangerous here as the water is very rough and the current strong. I let the waves wash over my legs. We mostly cooled off in the stream. It was fairly crowded with tourists who had hiked in and a few locals. The hike out was harder than the hike in, in my opinion. I won't be doing this hike again. But I'm glad I did it at least once. We started about 1 PM and got out about 7 PM. The muscles in the back of my legs are very sore.

That's the extent of my super exiciting weekend...............

The brownies are baked, the sun is shining, the beach is calling..............i must pack the cooler and hit the road. i think we'll stay close to home on this outing, too tired to drive all the way to our favorite beach, mebbe tomorrow. i would like to see some fireworks tonite so we may park outside the stadium and watch. i can't take crowds & heat so don't want to pay the $$ to get inside.

thinking a lot about my best friend lately. sure wish she was here to talk to. i miss you much, more than you'll ever know. please everyone drive safely........you never know who else is on the road - even the person who's driving the car you're in.

Happy Fourth everyone!

Wednesday, July 02, 2003

Oh, no, not again. I missed my brother-in-laws birthday. I did this a couple years ago so last year I made an extra effort to remember. I baked brownies and mailed them to him in time for his birthday. This year I spaced it out. You see, I was so busy buying goodies for my parents 55th wedding anniversary basket that it completely slipped my mind. I promise I will make it up to him - I hope he likes brownies because that's what he's getting. It was "buy one get one free" on brownie mix at Safeway. I also succumbed (sp?) to the buy one get one free on the Baby Ruth Ice Cream. If you like Baby Ruth candy bars then get thee to a Safeway and get the ice cream. Bursting with flavor, absolutely my favorite ice cream right now. My cat only likes vanilla so I get both 1/2 gallons all to myself. The cat is still working on his own half gallon of vanilla.

One more day of work then Yippee! Long weekend coming up. Now what was I planning on doing this long weekend anyway???? My son would be content to watch videos dawn to dusk all day, in his room, with the door closed. I might as well live alone. At least I have the tv in the living room to myself. Let's see..........there's the beach, hey, Terminator 3 is out, mebbe we'll check that out if it's playing here. The selection of movies on this island is pitiful. There are really only two good places to see movies, one has 2 screens, the other 4. Oh yeah, I think we're going hiking on Sunday with my friend who has a friend visiting. That should be fun. We drive all the way to the end of the road on the north side of the island. Ohhhhhhhh, I can see the bridge the heartbreaker (see post dated 6/29 below) is working on. We're doing part of the Kalalau trail. Boy, there better be a beach somewhere on this trail so we can cool off. Hope it's not too muddy.

Yeah Baby! My new Oakley Fives arrived in the mail and I am sooooooo happy. Hey, these are hard to find and they are the only sunglasses that I like. I think Oakley discontinued them. What will I do when these break and I can't find them anymore. I'll just have to surf the net and buy up all the Oakley Fives Brown Tortoise w/ Gold Iridium Lenses that I can find. But first must get new credit card to charge em on. Man I tell you, a woman with dark sexy sunglasses and lipstick is something to behold. So, men out there, behold me. Hey, ask me out. I'm available. The ex is trying to get me back but I'm not falling for it. I need a new man in my life. Between 5'8" and 6'2" would be nice. Nice tan, brown eyes, well groomed, full head of hair, good personal hygiene.............affectionate, sexy, trustworthy, honest, available...........well, you get the picture? Where are you love of my life?????????

Oops, gotta head to work, I'm getting carried away........
