PS.....

You can always tell it's an election year by the amount of road work being done. I used to think that was just a joke but there's been an awful lot of road work in my neighborhood the last few months.

The most recent is the installation of railings on the one-car-at-a-time bridge over Opaeka'a stream. I mean, how long has that bridge been there? Kids sit on the wall and fish in the stream. Now there is a metal railing on each wall painted white. So where are the kids gonna sit now?

It's just not the same. The rural character of the bridge is gone.

What are they going to spoil next?

Not Taking One's Own Advice.....

Not too long ago I was complaining about a manufacturer that had "improved" a product I was using and how I was disappointed in the "improved" product.

Well, I decided to switch templates on my blog and now I wish I hadn't. I had to reinstall the counter program and I'm now using blogger comments instead of Haloscan. I put the Haloscan comment html in the template but when you looked at the blog there was just a vertical line where the comments should have been. So I took it out and I'm using blogger comments now. Which I don't like as well.

And I lost my links to other blogs. Bummer. And I can't figure out how to get them back in.

So........I need to listen to my own advice. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Blogapathy.....

I haven't been posting much lately. Mainly because my life consists of routine - wake up, go work, run errands, go home, eat, sleep, etc. The only variety in my life is if something out of the ordinary happens. Like last Friday...

I knew something was up when my car was driving weird. And I didn't find out what it was until I parked at work and saw that my left rear tire was completely flat. Ugh. Now what? So I called Roadside Assistance and they came and put the spare on.

Then when I was driving home for lunch I had the windows down but it was hella hot so I decided to put the AC on. Only when I pushed the up button for the driver's side window nothing happened. Great I thought. What next? I kept trying it all the way home but nothing happened. So I eat lunch and drive to work. I'm still trying the up/down button for the window and nothing is happening. How am I going to secure my car in the parking lot? There's been a problem with break-ins and with a window wide open for sure someone will rip me off. So I turn the engine off and think I can get a plastic bag from work and secure that over the window. I try the button one more time and the window glides up. Thank you Jesus! It's been working fine since. But I'm thinking I should get it checked soon.

So, back to the flat tire. First thing Saturday morning we go to Sears to get the tire fixed. Only, no can fix because get one big piece metal stuck in the tire. But, being the good Girl Scout that I once was, I was prepared. I had my whole "car" file with me. So I whipped out my last receipt for a tire purchased at Sears and am I glad I did. Even tho it was purchased 1.25 years ago they gave me credit on it. We're talking a $200 Michelin tire. I got the new tire for $53. Throw in the road hazard package and the grand total was $72. I was a happy camper.

So my car is becoming a money pit. I've spent over $670 since mid May fixing this and fixing that. And I have an estimate for $500 and change to replace the AC Evaporater. And it needs servicing. But I only have so much credit. Next year it will be 10 years old. It's gotta last. With my rent increase effective August there's no way I can even consider purchasing another not so old car.

But we managed to have a good beach weekend. Saturday we went to Salt Pond and Sunday we went to Maha'ulepu then to Pakala's to look for shells. Came across a couple big crabs that were acting kinda weird like they were sick or something. We did find a few shells and had a nice long walk on the deserted beach.

Then it was Monday again and back to our routine......

Cabin Fever Strikes.....

We ended up at the beach yesterday despite the sucky weather and got a couple hours of sun. It was fun watching the crabs chase after the Honey Nut Chex Mix I tossed their way. It wasn't fun getting kiawe thorns poking my feet through my slippers. But that's what happens when you wander off the beaten path....

And I discoverd that I have Video On Demand. This could be expensive. Last night I watched Big Fish. What a movie! I had to get some kleenex at the end to mop up the tears streaming down my face. Thumbs up to this movie.

Another day at the beach would be nice today. Preferably at a beach where we can get in the water. And throw the ball around.

This Week's Happenings.....

The jewelry store finally came to their senses and purchased a PC from Dell. Yoo Hoo! I couldn't be happier to be using Windows again. It's so much faster and easier to navigate. Entry should be so much faster now.

The weather sucks......it's been cloudy and rainy for about three days now. I really wanted to go to the beach today but it doesn't look like that's going to happen. So I checked the movies playing because I really want to see Shrek 2. Guess what? It's not playing here anymore. What a rinky dink island I live on.

After the mailbox/post incident and having my rent raised I've decided that I'm going to be like those three monkeys you see. You know, one has his eyes covered, one has his ears covered and the third has his mouth covered. That's gonna be me from now on. I will see nothing, hear nothing and say nothing. Screw it. I tried to be the good responsible person and what did I get for it? Screwed. So, because I was the good person and used to stick the couple's mail in their door because they never check the mailbox I will no longer be miss nice person. Their mail can sit in the mailbox until it rots. As a matter of fact, they have some mail that's been sitting in the box for about three weeks. I hope it's bills and they have to pay late fees. That would make me feel very satisfied. Hey, couple in the studio, guess what? I smelled that pot you were smoking in the bathroom last night. You think the smell doesn't drift out because your bathroom has no windows, but guess what? Ha Ha, it does. So I know when you're in there puffing away. Maybe if you and your friends hadn't been smoking pot so much one of your friends wouldn't have hit the post with the mailboxes on it and knocked it over. I hope you never check your mail and the bill collector's hound you to the ends of the earth.

Do I sound bitter? I'm not really. Just grumpy cuz the weather is so junk and I can't go to the beach. Well, I could go to the beach but what would the purpose be? The sun isn't out.

Last weekend someone didn't stop at the stop sign at the end of the street and ran through a guardrail and a rock wall. A brand new guardrail the county just put up about a month ago. I didn't even hear the crash but the sirens woke me up. Yesterday the county put up a new guardrail. The rock wall hasn't been repaired yet.

Last night someone ran over part of the hedge across the street. What's weird it that it looks like they ran it over from the inside of the yard towards the street. I didn't hear that either.

I'm not surprised at either of the above incidents. People speed on this street all the time. Especially at night.

Time to eat. Guess I'll turn the tv on and be a couch potato.

Life's A Bitch And Then You Die.....

Today I was notified that my rent will be increasing $250 on 8/1.

And I have to bring my deposit up to the new rent amount.

That's a total of an extra $500 due on 8/1.

Any suggestions?

Is It Hot In Here Or What........

It's too hot to do anything. All I really want to do is sit in the ocean up to my neck and chill...

It's too hot to go outside.

It's too hot to stay inside.

It's too fricking hot........

Did I mention how hot it was?
