OK. I Watched It....

That tsunami rundraising thingee on tv the other night. What a disappointment. Not the cause but the show. I don't think one singer sang on key. Madonna's rendition of Imagine was terrible. BuUt her hair looked nice. I'd like to wear my hair like that but can't stand hair in my face. And I just don't get the whole Mary L. Blige thing......I mean she can't sing for shit. Every time I see her, and she's all over the place, she can't carry a tune. Why is she so popular? She stinks. Maybe she has a good manager. I can't even remember who else was on cuz I gave up on it and changed the channel.

We tried for the beach on Saturday because the day dawned sunny and clear. We went all the way to Salt Pond but
it was yucky. There was a monk seal on the beach in the spot we usually hang out at. So we headed to Glass Beach and picked up a few pieces of glass. Then we gave up on the beach and headed home.

Sunday was totally a wash. It was cloudy, overcast, wet and rainy all day. So we ran errands. I tried to get my son new shoes but he was completely uncooperative. He never wants anything new as far as clothing goes. Resists new underwear, shirts, shorts, you name it. But he doesn't mind new socks. So his shoes are falling apart and he really needs new ones. But we didn't find any in his size that he liked. Didn't even want to try any on.

So I didn't work today. We hit the beach. Then afterwards we went cruising. I like to go exploring. Drive the back roads. So today we cruised up to Spalding Monument (what's left of it) then drove the old back road to Anahola. Lots of horse pastures up there. One we passed had a mare and foal in it eating near the fence. So we pulled over and fed the mare some grass. She just wanted more and more. Couldn't get the foal to come over and eat some grass. I tried to take a picture with my camera phone but it's so dang hard to see the screen in the sun that I cut off the top of the mare's head. I did get a good picture of Kong mountain which I'll post sometime.

Ok, now I'm going to watch tv the rest of the night.

If You Think Your Shit Doesn't Stink, You're Wrong.....

Those are the words I said to my boss last Friday. Becaue she uses the bathroom (#2) and doesn't spray any air freshener. And I also told her that her wearing pajamas, not brushing her teeth or combing her hair didn't create a good working atmosphere.

But I also told her that I know she's been under a lot of stress lately because of having to travel for her job, one of her cats dying and her mom being in the hospital for 2 1/2 months and dying the first week of January.

So when I showed up for work on Tuesday I fully expected her to hand me my final check. But she didn't. And on Tuesday and Thursday she wasn't wearing her pj's when I got to work. But she was on Friday.

At least next week she's on Oahu for a tradeshow so I won't have to deal with her.

9.5" of Rain Between Thursday & Saturday.....

This is a photo from the local newspaper of a flooded stream in Kapahi. It started to rain last Thursday about 5 pm with lightning and thunder. It rained off & on until Saturday night when it started to clear up. My driveway looked like a river. One third of my front yard was under water. The side of my house was another river running onto the road. There was so much water on the road in front of my house cars had to drive on the opposite side of the road. I didn't leave my house from Friday noon until Sunday morning. Saturday I spent bouncing from the computer to the tv to the windows to check the flooding back to the computer then the tv, etc., etc., etc..

Finally today we went to Salt Pond. We normally get to the beach the back way by the airstrip but today it was flooded and muddy. I just didn't want to drive through that so we parked in the lot and walked across the grass to the beach. I couldn't believe how littered the beach was with debris and driftwood. The water was muddy out to sea about the length of a football field. No way were we going swimming today. A tourist couple down the beach was letting their son play and swim in the water. I hope he doesn't get an infection. At least it was sunny. But there was a constant breeze blowing from the west. Which is the opposite way it usually blows.

After Salt Pond we drove to Pakala's. The path down to the beach was muddy in some places and dry in some places. The river must have been a raging torrent because the grass that usually grows between the path and the river was flattened from the water. Just as you got to the beach the path became a cliff and you had to walk on the overgrown grass to get to the beach. The beach was even worse that at Salt Pond. Completely littered with driftwood and debris. And what looked like shredded grass was piled up along the beach only it had a sweet smell so I suspect it was from the sugar mill down the road. I'm so used to the beach being white sand with driftwood here and there that it was quite a shock to see what the storm had done to it.
