Too Close For Comfort.....

Yesterday we hit the beach. Got there about midday. It was kinda crowded where we parked so we walked down the beach aways leaving about 20 feet between us and the nearest people. I like to give people their space on the beach and I like for people to do the same. It was a beautiful day. Warm, sunny with a moderate breeze blowing. We watched some parachuters jump from a plane and land near the airstrip. We saw two military helicopters (those big ones that carry troops) fly low over the ocean towards PMRF. And the really nice helicopter with the retractable gear that ferries people from Niihau landed at the airstrip then took off again.

After about an hour and a half a truck pulled up about 6 feet away from us. Out of the truck came two adults, one teenager and 3 kids. They immediately went into the water.

My son and I went in the water also and threw the ball back and forth for about 20 minutes. Then we went back up to our chairs. I put sunscreen on my back and layed on my stomach and read. One of the kids from the truck came out of the water, got a towel from her uncle and walked by my towel. As she walked by very closely she kicked sand onto my book, towel and me. And hit my head with the towel.

Anyway, when we were done with the beach we stopped at McDonald's in Eleele and got a happy meal for my son then drove down by Glass Beach and around the old Japanese cemetery and parked while he ate. Here is the view we had while he ate. There were about 8 boats out fishing and the NOAA vessel was motoring towards Port Allen. Although you can't see it in the photo there is a guy fishing from that point of land that juts out into the ocean. The white speck up on the cliff is his truck.

Today we awoke to rain. The clouds were so low we couldn't even see the top of Sleeping Giant. So this morning we ran errands and it's still cloudy so it looks like we won't be getting in any beach time today. We could still go but I'm feeling kinda lazy.....
